Almost every christmas holiday something peculiar happens. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's annoying and sometimes it's just plain embarrasing. :/
This year it was a bit from everything. My mom is a bit ill and although she's getting better she still feels bad and tires quickly. But still she decided to bake Christmas cake so that grandmother doesn't have to do it herself.
Her valiant effort wasn't very successful because instead of creating a nicely formed cake what came out was a sort of a blob (well, three blobs actually). Whole family made jokes about that...that thing. Mom nicknamed it the Christmas cow shit. (If you have ever seen a cow poop you know that it just plops in the grass and it doesn't have any real form.) I thought about the dough as of three black holes or universes that keep expanding eventually fusing into one big mass (or mess?) of baked dough. In the end it was one very big and flat cake but it tastes good.
Mom didn't give up and made a second one. This time it looked really good (even though it was huge). The dough was firmer and the form was perfect. Until it went through the baking process. In the oven it gre even more and deflated a lot and it's now almost as flat as the Christmas cow poop. BUT together with the giant cake mom made one much smaller from excess dough and that baby Ch. cake turned perfect.
So merry Christmas and happy new year to everyone! Enjoy your Christmas cakes and other delicious food.
